Good Morning all!!! I am new to the Portland area and have just moved here from the Medford/Grants Pass area and was wondering when the next meeting is and if anyone needs a hand with their Avionics Systems? I have done a lot of work in the past working with the Milani's (Butch and Brian) and they are the ones who "cut my teeth" on the Home-built's.
I look forward to hearing from folks here in the area. Thegreg4@msn.com |

Greg: we had a meeting last night at the chapter hangar at Twin Oaks. Our next event is the monthly First Saturday of the Month Pancakes and Grits breakfast at Twin Oaks. Hope to see you there. You should monitor the chapter website for upcoming events. Rion

Hello, I'm new to the group, and hope to move to your area.
Currently living in Mass, and a member of EAA196. I'm looking for airparks in the Portland/Hillsboro area. Any happy residents want to tell me what its like, and if any houses are for sale in your park ? How is the interaction with Hillsboro Class D? Any other LSA owners around? I have a Flight Design CTSW. Thanks,

Bill -
Welcome to the group! I fly out of 7S3 (Starks Twin Oaks Airpark) and have had no issues regarding the HIO airspace. There is a large operation at HIO which trains primarily foreign pilots and thus the tower is used to a broad range of pilot experiences. There are a few residential airparks in the communities surrounding Portland. A large one is located at 7S5 (Independence State Airport), about 50 miles south of Portland. It takes about 90 minutes to drive there from Hillsboro. Bruce Rose |

Thanks for the feedback, I hadn't considered Vancouver at all.
No use or sales tax in Oregon is compelling, though. New constraints have arrived... from my wife! She wants a house no more than 6mi from a Trimet / Max stop, so our daughter can take the train and then pedal her bike. So, while Independence looks nice (and has a famous CT owner), it is too far. Since I'll be flying south to KRHV, I thought Independence was good. I found one house at Sunset that looks good. That is in the approach path 12 at KHIO. Olinger didn't have any houses for sale. I'm happy with hard surface or grass. Op Handbook says 760 feet takeoff, I want 2000. Another alternative is house or condo near Max, and base plane at an airport w/hangars, eg at Starks. I have contacted two real estate agents, one in Hillsboro area, another in Sandy. I'll hear a lot from them.
